Group meeting at Ashgabat Airport. Accommodation in a 4-star hotel. After lunch, a city sightseeing tour will be conducted, visiting the main architectural landmarks of the capital, including the Neutrality and Independence Parks, the Ruhnama Book Monument, the Memorial Square of World War II Heroes and the Victims of the Ashgabat Earthquake. The tour will conclude at the observation deck of the Marriage Palace.
After breakfast, our group will depart in the western direction to the mountain village of Kunya-Kombes, located at an altitude of 1350m. The day will start with visits to the Firuza and Chuli Gorges, driving through the serpentine mountain roads and enjoying the beauty of the Kopetdag Mountains. We will then visit the Geok-Tepe Mosque and stop at a horse farm, where we will spend two hours getting acquainted with the pride of the Turkmen people - Akhal-Teke horses. For lunch, our group will arrive at the underground lake of Kov-Ata in Baharden, descending 250m into the cave and taking a bath in the warm water (+37 degrees) of the unique lake. In the evening, the group will start the ascent into the mountains, visit an unusual cemetery and a sacred place in the village of Nokhur, and settle for the night in Kunya-Kombes with a local family.
After breakfast and exploring the attractions of the village, we will embark on a hiking journey to the Aydere Gorge and stay overnight at a campsite in Upper Aydere. The hike will take approximately 5-7 hours, covering a distance of 16-20km.
On this day, our route will descend from 1300m to 1000m, crossing two gorges, visiting the Yoldere Waterfall, and after a 20km hike, we will stay overnight in Lower Aydere.
The hike of this day will cover 16-18km, passing through the Aydere Gorge with a detour to the Koshdemir Gorge, where we will spend the night near a waterfall of the same name. Food and prepared camp will be awaiting us here.
On this day, we will drive by car through the picturesque Sumbar Gorge, visit the mausoleum of Sheikh Owais, near the village of Makhtumkuli, stop near the village of Kara-Kala to see the "Moon Mountains," and return to Ashgabat in the evening, to a comfortable hotel where we can take a shower and rest from the hiking trips.
The first half of this day will be free time for you to visit bazaars or one of the museums in the capital. After lunch, we will head north towards the center of the fourth-largest desert in the world - the Karakum Desert. Along the way, we will stop in the sandy village of Erbent, where we will learn about the life of desert dwellers. By sunset, we will arrive at the Darvaza Gas Crater - the "Gates of Hell," where we will spend the night in tents.
On this day, we will head east through the Unguz depression and conquer the sand dunes, cross salt flats, and enjoy the landscapes of the desert. We will stop in the remote village of Damla for lunch, where we will spend a couple of hours interacting with the locals and tasting traditional dishes before continuing our journey. We will spend the night in tents in the village of Akmolla.
In the morning, we will set off on a long journey through the villages of Akmolla and Murzachella, making stops for photography. We will then change direction and head south to the capital of the ancient civilization of Margiana, the archaeological site of Gonur-Depe (23rd - 16th centuries BC), where we will set up camp near the archaeologists. On the way, we will visit the Minar Caravanserai (8th-12th centuries AD).
We will start the morning with an excursion to the excavations and have the opportunity to interact with the specialists working on the site. Then, our journey will take us 100 km through villages and cotton fields in the Mary region, and by lunchtime, we will arrive at the architectural monuments of Ancient Merv. After a three-hour tour, we will continue eastward and settle in a hotel in the city of Turkmenabad by evening.
The whole day will be spent on the road, traveling along the legendary Asian river - the Amu Darya (Oxus), and then along the Afghan border towards the Kugitang-Tau mountains. Along the way, we will visit the mausoleums of Alamerdar (11th century) and Astana-Baba (12th-16th centuries) and have lunch in the city of Atamurat (Kerki). We will cross the Amu Darya in the area of the ancient ferry crossing at Zemm. By evening, we will arrive at the village of Svinovoy Rudnik at an altitude of 1000m and spend the night at a tourist base.
This day will be spent in the Kugitang Mountains. We will visit the Dinosaur Plateau, which has the world's largest concentration of ancient reptile footprints, the Umbar Gorge and Waterfall, as well as the cave with the sacred site of Kyrk-Gyz. After lunch, we will spend time by a mountain lake.
On the following day, we will return to the city of Turkmenabad, visiting the holy site of Kaynar-Baba, and in the evening, we will take a flight to Ashgabat, where we will check into a hotel and have a farewell dinner at one of the city's restaurants.
