We will meet the group at the Uzbekistan border in Khiva-Dashoguz. We will then transfer to Kunya-Urgench and visit the main architectural sites of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the ancient capital of Khorezm. We will explore the mausoleums of Najmuddin Kubra, Il-Arslan, and Tekesh, the Turabek-Khanum mausoleum, and the minaret of the congregational mosque, the tallest in Central Asia. After lunch, we will head south to the heart of the Karakum Desert, to the gas crater in Darvaza, where we will camp for the night.
In the morning, our group will travel to the capital of Turkmenistan, the white-marble city of Ashgabat. On the way, we will have the opportunity to visit the clay and water craters and stop in the village of Erbent to learn about the life of desert people. We will spend the night in one of the city's hotels.
We will spend the entire day on a city tour of Ashgabat, visiting the main architectural attractions such as the Parks of Neutrality and Independence, the Ruhnama Book Monument, the Memorial Park of the Heroes of World War II and the Victims of the Ashgabat Earthquake. The tour will conclude at the observation deck of the Wedding Palace.
On this day, we will visit the Parthian Fortresses of Old and New Nisa. We will learn about the history of the Parthian Empire and explore the main structures included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site, including the Round Hall, Audience Hall, Treasury, and the wine cellars, walking through corridors dating back two millennia. After lunch, we will visit the National Museum of History, which houses unique historical artifacts discovered during archaeological excavations in the country over the centuries.
On the fifth day of the program, we will travel to the city of Mary to visit another UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ancient Merv. On the way, we will stop at Abiverd and the mausoleum of Meana-Baba. We will spend the night at the "Mary****" hotel.
Throughout the day, we will explore the cities of Ancient Merv, including Alexandria Margiana (Erk-Kala), Seleucia Margiana (Gyaur-Kala), Sultan-Kala, Abdulakhan-Kala. We will also visit the unique mausoleums of Sultan Sanjar and Muhammad ibn Zaid. After lunch, we will visit the Museum of History, which houses a rich collection of artifacts from the Mary region. Overnight in Mary hotel.
On this day, we will venture into the desert to visit the legendary land of Margush (Margiana) and its capital, Gonur-Depe, considered the center of the fifth world civilization and the birthplace of Zoroastrianism. Our journey will take us through fields and settlements of the Mary region, with the last 30 km through the Karakum Desert. Along the way, we will visit possibly the first Christian church and the caravanserai of Geoktepe. By evening, the group will return to Mary.
In the morning, we will transfer to the city of Turkmenabad, explore its sights, and after lunch, accompany the tourists to the Alat-Farab border with Uzbekistan.
